In a for-profit healthcare system, people are often left behind. Companionship and doula care can help you navigate these healthcare systems with someone by your side. I truly believe that everyone deserves quality care and I understand that sexism, racism, ableism, phobias of trans, queer, gay, and fat people often get in the way. The companionship I provide is always trauma informed and patient centric.
I work as a teacher and advocate for reproductive justice and as a volunteer with hospice and mutual aid. Formerly, I trained to be a doula for birth, death, and abortion. I practiced in all three fields for a year before realizing that my true passion lies in end of life care. Today I am only accepting end-of-life clientele.
Death
Everyone deserves to die comfortably and without fear or shame. Dying is not failing or giving up. It’s an important life event and no one should have to do it alone. Death denying society abandons people during this most vulnerable and sacred time. As a death doula I’m committed to advocating for those who are dead, dying, and grieving. To deny death is to deny the sacredness of life.
As an end of life companion, I am able to provide physical, emotional, and informational support including paperwork assistance, legacy planning, planning for services and body arrangements, rights advocacy, and non medical comfort care.
Jennifer is trained in end of life companionship, paperwork, and literacy through Sacred Crossings, INELDA and the School of American Thanatology.
